Lakers News: Steve Blake Suffers Foot Injury

In a statement released by the Lakers on Monday, it appears that backup point guard Steve Blake has suffered a foot injury after stepping on a spike strip in a parking lot.

According to the team, Blake will be sidelined for approximately three weeks, and is prohibited from participating in any impact exercises.

This couldn’t come at a worse time for the Lakers, who are set to begin training camp in less than two weeks. Blake was expected to be the team’s backup point guard behind Steve Nash and compete with newly acquired Chris Duhon for minutes.

Blake averaged 5.2 points in 23.3 minutes over the course of 53 games for the Lakers last season.
