Lakers News: Steve Nash ‘Doubtful’ To Return Against Raptors

With all the attention surrounding the pending return of Kobe Bryant, two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash making his return to the floor has basically been pushed to the side and forgotten.

Most believed that Nash was headed for retirement after his latest injury setback, but the veteran point guard stuck by his stance to get back on the floor this season. Although there has been no update on a timetable for Nash, head coach Mike D’Antoni did say the following about his starting point guard via Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News:

With Nash’s return still up in the air and Jordan Farmar recently suffering a hamstring injury that will keep him out a month, the Lakers backcourt is ravaged with injuries once again. Not only are Nash and Farmar out, but Steve Blake is also dealing with a hyperextended elbow that will hinder his play as well.

Now that Bryant is close to his return and may make his debut against the Raptors, the five-time NBA champion may end up bringing the ball up the floor on occasion. Nash seems to be closer to a return that first anticipated, but Bryant will definitely be on the floor before Nash and will help shoulder the load in the meantime.

Jodie Meeks and Xavier Henry might also share time at the point for the Lakers with Nash, Blake and Farmar all dealing with injuries.
