The Lakers begin their postseason on Sunday as their first round series against the Spurs kickoff in San Antonio. We already know that the Lakers’ backcourt will look very different with the absence of Kobe Bryant, but many have wondered if the point guard position will have its regular starter.

After missing eight consecutive games with hamstring and hip issues, the Lakers tweeted that Steve Nash plans on being ready to go for Game 1 on Sunday.

With the absence of Nash and Bryant in the last two regular season games, the Lakers played some bench players who aren’t used to seeing time. While we may still see time from one or more of these players, the postseason is typically a time when rotations are shortened to the mass importance of these games and to maintain rhythm.

While it hasn’t been officially announced that Steve Blake will start alongside Nash in the backcourt, many believe this will happen due to the impressive play of Blake as of late. Regardless, it is good news to hear that Nash appears ready for his return.
