Lakers News: Steve Nash Talks About Injury Recovery Process

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Sacramento KingsThe Los Angeles Lakers suffered devastating injuries throughout the season, and as a result point guard Steve Nash spent most of his time on the bench, watching.

The future Hall of Fame guard did not get off to a fast start with the Lakers, and his early season injury just foreshadowed the misfortunes he would encounter moving forward. Nash is doing what it takes to rehab his injuries and plans to participate in two soccer charity events scheduled for the summer.

Nash spoke to the Daily News and updated fans on his recovery process and where he plans to be health wise once it is time for the 2013-14 season.

“I’m fighting every day to get back to 100 percent and I think I’ll be able to play in both events,” Nash said. “Most important, by the time season comes around I’ll be 100 percent and be in a great position to have a great year.

“I’m still rehabbing now, but I should be good to go and plan on playing in both.”

In his first season with the Lakers, Nash played in 50 games and averaged 12.7 points and 6.7 assists per contest. At the age of 39, Nash is certainly not the player he was several years back, but the injuries surely played a larger role in the struggles he faced in 2012-13.
