The Los Angeles Lakers have their eyes set on July 1, the start of free agency, but before that the front office will have to devote its attention to the 2013 NBA Draft.
The Draft, which will take place on June 27th, will see the Cleveland Cavaliers picking first overall, while the Lakers’ lone selection will be in the second round at number 48. Even though the chances of finding a franchise changing player in the second round is very slim, the team can always use young athletes to help bolster the bench.

One player that has drawn the Lakers’ attention is Brandon Triche out of Syracuse University, and Dave McMenamin tweets that Triche has scheduled a workout with Los Angeles.

The Lakers certainly need to get younger and more explosive during the off-season, and if the team does end up claiming him, he will be a valuable piece for the franchise moving forward.
