Lakers News: Team Cuts Chris Douglas-Roberts, Greg Somogyi

After falling in their sixth consecutive preseason game on Sunday night, the Lakers officially announced that they had cut Chris Douglas-Roberts and Greg Somogyi in a statement released by the team on Monday.

After some speculation that Douglas-Roberts might make the team, the Lakers officially cut him from the roster Monday. Douglas-Roberts played in four preseason games for Los Angeles where he averaged 4.0 points and 0.8 rebounds in 8.3 minutes, but saw his minutes greatly reduced in the last two preseason games against the Sacramento Kings, and didn’t play at all on Sunday night.

Somogyi, a UCSB alum, played three preseason games with the Lakers, Somogyi averaged 1.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in 7.7 minutes. Like Douglas-Roberts, Somogyi saw his playing time disappear over the last two preseason games.

The current Lakers roster now stands at 16, with at least one more player likely to be released before the start of the regular season.
