After a 1-4 start the Los Angeles Lakers announced that they have fired head coach Mike Brown, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN LA.

This comes just one day after Jim Buss gave Brown a vote of confidence, something that now means just about nothing.

No announcement has been made as to who will replace brown.
UPDATE: 10:10 AM PST
Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports reported that Brown’s agent informed him he had been relieved of his duties.
“Mike just called saying he was relieved of his duties,” agent Warren LeGarie tells Y! Sports about the ex-Lakers coach.

Adrian Wojnarowski, also of Yahoo! Sports, reported that Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak wanted to give Brown more time.
