After two games with Nash back in the fold and the Lakers riding a five-game win streak, GM Mitch Kupchak and company are no longer looking into adding free agents or pursuing trades for Jose Calderon according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports via Twitter:
Lakers aren’t interested in opening a roster spot to acquire Derek Fisher, Kenyon Martin or any other free agent, a source told Y! Sports.

The fact that the Lakers’ front office is retracting all interest in free agent guards around the league is a great sign. The team seems to be coming together as of late with Nash leading the charge. The veteran’s impact on the team has instantly started to turn things around for this squad that has been going in the wrong direction all season long.
The win over the New York Knicks on Christmas Day may have resulted in a huge boost in confidence for this squad. The team chemistry is beginning to come around as well as vast improvements on defense with Metta World Peace leading by example.
It’s a little early to dub this team a championship-caliber squad once again, but the future is looking bright with a healthy Nash and a motivated squad moving forward.
