The Los Angeles Lakers will honor their late, great owner Dr. Jerry Buss by wearing a patch of his initials on their jerseys. The Lakers announced the decision on their Twitter page, and added that money raised through the sale of the “JB” patches will go to the Lakers Youth Foundation.

Los Angeles will play its next game Wednesday night when their arch rival Celtics come into town. It is only fitting that the Lakers play their first game since the passing of Dr. Buss against their hated opponent.
The “JB” patches will appear on the right side of the Lakers’ jersey, opposite the NBA logo.

Buss passed away early Monday morning, and his tenure as Lakers owner came to an end. In his time with the franchise, Buss led the Lakers to ten NBA championships and is regarded as the greatest owner in North American sports history.
