The Los Angeles Lakers need to cut down their roster to a maximum of 15 players before the start of the 2015-16 NBA season on Oct. 28.

The team brought in a total of 19 players to training camp with four or more these players to be let go in the coming weeks.

According to Bill Oram of the Orange County Register, the team has begun cutting down their roster with Robert Upshaw and Michael Frazier II being among the cuts made by Los Angeles.

Undoubtedly the big surprise here is Upshaw being waived as some believed he would battle Robert Sacre possibly for the final spot on the team. Despite his immense potential, however, he showed very few flashes in the preseason, though he was in noticeably better shape than his time in summer league.

Frazier was always more of a long shot to make the roster as there are many players on the roster who do the same thing as he does. Jordan Clarkson, D’Angelo Russell, and Lou Williams, in particular, are very similar players to Frazier making it tough for him to crack the roster.

These cuts drop the Lakers roster down to 17 players, so two more must still be released before the season opener on Oct. 28 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. In all likelihood, it is Jabari Brown, Metta World Peace, and Johnathan Holmes, who was injured in Monday’s game, on the bubble.
