Lakers Reportedly Have Interest In Shooting Guard Xavier Henry

Xavier HenryWith the Lakers set to begin training camp in a little over three weeks, they’re still looking to fill out their roster. They’ve been linked to both Lou Amundson and Sebastian Telfair recently and officially signed swingman Shawn Williams.

Today, the Lakers were reported to have interest in shooting guard Xavier Henry, according to ESPN.

Henry was drafted by the Grizzlies at 10th in 2010 and is 22-years-old. Henry had some big games while a freshman at Kansas, scoring 27 in his first ever collegiate game, and was the first freshman at Kansas to score at least 30 points since Paul Pierce.

Henry left college after one year, and entered the NBA a bit raw on both ends of the floor. Henry has shown some signs that he can be a two-way player in the league as he’s been a decent defender in stretches for both the Grizzlies and Hornets and he’s shot 40 percent from three in his short career.

It is expected that Henry will receive a training camp invite, at the very least. If brought in, he can be a stop gap guy from the start of the season until the time that Kobe Bryant is back to 100 percent that could fill in some minutes at both wing positions.
