Lakers Rumors: Kobe, Nash, D’Antoni Have Separate Meeting With Howard

NBA: New Orleans Hornets at Los Angeles LakersJust when we all thought Dwight Howard’s meeting with the Lakers went “well” just like all of his other meetings, more news of his anticipated meeting with the Lakers has surfaced. Howard did not just have one meeting with the Lakers pitch team, he had another one on the side.

According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN Los Angeles, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, and Mike D’Antoni had their own private meeting with Howard to discuss the issues that the Lakers dealt with in the 2012-2013 season.

To Laker fans, this is the best news you have heard since the free agency has started. The fact that Kobe, Steve Nash, D’Antoni and Howard were in the same room is something that should be celebrated, but the fact that they had a “honest” conversation deserves its own holiday.

Some topics that could have been brought up were obviously trust issues, the defensive side of the ball, and of course who would get the majority of touches on offense.

It is clear Dwight wants to be the man wherever he goes, and in my opinion the Lakers are where he needs to be for that to happen. Think about it, Kobe’s out until November or December, Nash and Pau are aging, what better time to assert yourself as “the guy” and lead your team.

More reports from Howard’s meeting will surely leak out, but for now the Lakers, as well as the rest of the NBA, will play the waiting game once more.
