Heading into free agency, the Los Angeles Lakers had high hopes of landing an All-Star player. Unfortunately, these players have either re-signed or signed elsewhere as the storied franchise is looking to improve their talent.

According to ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard, the Lakers are one of a few teams interested in signing veteran forward Carlos Boozer:

After being amnestied by the Chicago Bulls last summer, Boozer had no control over where he’d play in the 2014-15 NBA season. Ultimately, the Lakers were able to claim him in the amnesty auction adding some depth to their frontcourt.

Although Boozer is nowhere near the All-Star-caliber player he once was with the Utah Jazz, the veteran power forward filled a role in Los Angeles. Boozer averaged 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in 23.8 minutes on the floor last season.

Much like last year, Boozer may be nothing more than a backup plan for the Lakers if unable to sign a considerable upgrade like LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Love or Greg Monroe. The Miami Heat have been frequently mentioned as a likely destination for the two-time All-Star.
