The Los Angeles Lakers may have defeated the Boston Celtics on the court on Sunday, but it seems that the team’s front offices have had conversations surrounding their players as well.
One of the most commonly discussed trades lately has involved Boston’s Rajon Rondo and the Lakers’ power forward Pau Gasol. According to Mike Bresnahan of the L.A. Times, however, the Lakers were unwilling to give up Gasol in a deal for Rondo.
The Lakers are unwilling to trade Pau Gasol for Rondo, making a deal with Boston unlikely before the trade deadline Thursday.
Bresnahan also reported that a source close to the situation declared the Lakers inability to acquire Rondo without giving up their prized 7-footer. However, that sentiment seems to go beyond just Boston and Rondo. Bresnahan’s source claims that the team will be unable to acquire an All-Star caliber point guard without losing Gasol, which is something they’ve been hesitant to do thus far.
