One of the deciding factors for LeBron James signing with the Los Angeles Lakers was what it would mean for his family.
LeBron James Jr. is set to enter high school and will be attending Sierra Canyon High School, who have won back-to-back CIF State Open Division championships.
James’ oldest son has already been turning heads in AAU circuits and all eyes will be on him as he enters high school. Interestingly enough, he won’t be the only son of an NBA superstar there. As a matter of fact, James will have the opportunity to form a second generation duo that thrived at the highest level in the NBA.
According to Tarrek Fattal of Los Angeles Daily News, James Jr. will be joined at Sierra Canyon High School by Dwyane Wade’s son, Zaire Wade:
LeBron James Jr., known as Bronny and the son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, and Zaire Wade, the son of newly retired Dwyane Wade, are expected to team up for Sierra Canyon in Chatsworth next season.
Of course, James and Wade spent four seasons together with the Miami Heat, winning two championships in four NBA Finals appearances and are best friends off the court. Wade’s son has been attending American Heritage School in Florida and will be an incoming senior while James’ son will be a freshman.
With both sons at the same high school, it only makes sense that James and Wade will have even more reason to hang out together and they are looking forward to doing so:
Multiple reports have quoted Dwyane Wade and LeBron James as looking forward to spending more time with each other this summer in Los Angeles, where Dwyane and wife Gabrielle Union plan to be more often now that the three-time NBA champ is retired.
Both James and Wade want to do what is best for their children and attending a basketball powerhouse will undoubtedly raise their profiles and give them the opportunity to win. The school is also used to hosting children of former NBA players as this past season’s championship team was boosted by Kenyon Martin’s son and Scottie Pippen’s son.
Whether James and Wade will be able to replicate the success of their fathers remains to be seen, but they will have a spotlight unlike any other.
