The Los Angeles Lakers suffered perhaps one of the most disappointing losses of the season on Friday night falling to the Washington Wizards at the Staples Center. The Lakers blew an 18-point lead against John Wall and company in the loss while witnessing arguably their best bench player suffer a wrist injury and head coach Mike D’Antoni finally losing his cool.
Although D’Antoni’s comments after the game were telling to say the least, the major concern for the team moving forward was the health of veteran forward Antawn Jamison. In the loss to the Wizards, Jamison suffered a slight tear in his right wrist. With his right wrist being on his shooting hand, there was definitely cause for concern with the NBA playoffs right around the corner and no other viable options off the bench that can replace Jamison’s offensive production on a nightly basis.
Despite clearly being in pain after suffering the injury on Friday night and sitting the rest of the contest as a result, Jamison will play through his wrist injury in an attempt to help the late-season push for the postseason.
The news of Jamison’s willingness to play through the injury in Kobe Bryant-like fashion is promising to say the least, but the team remains painfully inconsistent and things seem to be reaching a boiling point for D’Antoni due to an inability to put it all together with the playoffs rapidly approaching.
