Lakers Rumors & News Recap: Bynum’s Mouth As Big As His Fro

NBA: Philadelphia 76ers at New York KnicksWhen talking about Bryant’s impact on his career, the Andrew Bynum felt that Kobe’s ball-dominant ways hurt his development. At first, the former Laker center appreciated Kobe’s presence because less pressure was put on him to perform. However, as time passed and Bynum believes he developed, all of a sudden he took issue to Kobe’s playing style. Bynum felt the Lakers guard was too much of a powerhouse to allow him to play to the best of his ability.

This theme of Kobe picking up the pieces isn’t something new, and fans have seen this especially in the last string of games. But it’s one thing to give a backhanded compliment. Bynum should focus less on his woes with former teammates and focus more on his game. At the guard position, Bryant needed Bynum performing at high levels to help finish on the court. Overall, Bynum’s gripe sounded like a way of excusing his exit from L.A. to bring in Dwight Howard. I am sure the sting of being the Lakers second choice still resonates with him.

Even though he wasn’t the Lakers first choice at the end of last year, Andrew Bynum believes he is the number one league center, despite hardly playing this season. Andrew hasn’t logged a minute with his new team yet because of knee problems, but that didn’t stop him sending a little smack talk Howard’s way:

“Personally I think they traded No. 1 for No. 2.”

The Lakers got the better end of the deal with Bynum having yet to play a single game for the Philadelphia 76ers and Howard putting solid numbers while coming off back surgery. Howard may have some on-court growing to do, but evidently baby Bynum’s attitude hasn’t changed much, something the Lakers can live without.
