The current squad won’t look much like last season, and the same may go for the 2014-15 season.
With all the money coming of the books next summer, the Lakers’ front office will have a lot of flexibility and cap space at their disposal. Although there will be plenty of talent available, it remains uncertain at this point whether or not the storied franchise can land one or two of the big-name players.
The top two players said to be targeted by the Lakers are LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. With LeBron currently rolling with the Miami Heat and working on a three-peat next season, it’s a stretch to say the least that the Lakers will be able to lure him to Los Angeles. Anthony, on the other hand, may be an easier sell.
Recently, Vanessa Bryant was seen having dinner with Anthony’s wife, La La, in Los Angeles. Obviously, this dinner between the wives in L.A. has fueled speculation that Anthony may be headed to the Lakers next summer. Of course, it’s extremely too early to speculate with an entire season yet to be played, but Anthony coming to Los Angeles may very well be on the horizon.
