During his exit interview with Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak, point guard Ramon Sessions said that both sides expressed a mutual interest in bringing him back next season.
Sessions stated that he ‘definitely’ wants to return to Los Angeles next season and that during his meeting with Kupchak, the GM expressed similar sentiments.

“It was clear leaving the meeting they wanted me back,” Sessions said. “It was 100% clear.”

While both sides appear interested in teaming up for the future, things get a little tricky when the numbers are discussed. According to Mark Medina of the L.A. Times, Sessions’ $4.55 million player option is still a concern, but it is expected that he will opt out of the deal in order to try and receive a long-term contract.

Even though both parties showed interest, how Sessions proceeds regarding his player option could dictate his future with the team. Though Kupchak had anticipated signing Sessions to a longer-term deal, the Lakers also had anticipated he would provide a larger presence at point guard.

Sessions certainly made an impact on the team during his brief time with the Lakers, but many felt he could have performed better in the post-season.

Regardless of what happens, Sessions said his main goal was winning, something the Lakers can certainly appreciate.
