Lakers Rumors & Recaps: Magic Johnson ‘Mourns’ Phil Jackson

The Mike D’Antoni era is upon us.

The Los Angeles Lakers made the unexpected and frankly shocking decision to hire D’Antoni over 11-time NBA champion Phil Jackson on Sunday that has left many speechless.

The news of the Lakers’ brass making the decision to go with D’Antoni spread like wildfire on Sunday with even Jackson shocked that the job was no longer his.

With D’Antoni coming into the fold in Los Angeles, the pressure begins to mount with the vast majority of Lakers fans disappointed the Zen Master was denied a chance to come back for a third stint with the team.

As arguably the most disappointed of all former players and larger-than-life Lakers fans, Magic Johnson expressed his disgust for the move to hire D’Antoni over Jackson via Twitter. Magic said he stayed off his Twitter account for two days because he was in mourning due to the Lakers not hiring Jackson for a third tour.

A little dramatic, Magic, but there’s plenty of Lakers fans out there that feel the same way.
