With recent news that Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash is keeping his options open this off-season, many people began to speculate as to whether or not the 2-time NBA Most Valuable Player could possibly join the Lakers and provide that point guard help they so desperately need.
But, in a recent interview with Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Ruocco of ESPN New York, Nash admits that putting on a Lakers jersey would be a tough pill to swallow.
“For me, it would be hard to put on a Lakers jersey. That’s just the way it is. You play against them so many times in the playoffs, and I just use them as an example, and I have the utmost respect for them and their organization.”
Nash has not been shy about his distaste for the Lakers in the past, even taking a shot at them in a Vitamin Water commercial. But this seems to be a major hurdle if the Lakers were indeed interested in bringing Nash to Los Angeles.
Other than the Lakers, Nash is reportedly interested in the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat, two Eastern Conference contenders that could use an experienced point guard.
