Lakers Rumors: Team Interested In Ariza, Lowry, Monroe, And Frye

With NBA free agency quickly approaching on July 1, the Los Angeles Lakers are expected to pursue LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. While the chances of both coming to Los Angeles are slim, the Lakers have a backup plan according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne:

“If they are unable to land Anthony or James, the Lakers are also expected to have a strong interest in Washington free-agent forward Trevor Ariza, Raptors guard Kyle Lowry, Detroit center Greg Monroe and Phoenix forward Channing Frye, according to sources.”

Heading into the off-season, the Lakers have ample cap space to sign another player to a max contract. While the dream would be to shed Steve Nash’s contract to sign both James and Anthony, the Lakers have a realistic chance of signing players like Ariza, Lowry, Monroe, and Frye.

With the Lakers selecting Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson at Thursday’s draft, the roster is beginning to take shape as they are also looking to fill the head coaching vacancy. After the worst season since moving to Los Angeles, it will be an interesting off-season as the Lakers are prepared to go “all out” to rebuild themselves back into championship contenders.
