The Los Angeles Lakers have been very busy this off-season, acquiring names like Steve Nash and Antawn Jamison. These players have been All-Stars many times before and are recognizable figures to casual fans. However, there is a player out there who has gained the Lakers’ interest, but may not ring a bell with fans.
According to Vernon Macklin’s agent, the Los Angeles Lakers are one of five teams that have expressed interest in his client, according to Hoops Rumors.
Vernon Macklin’s agent has informed Hoopshype.com that his client is currently drawing interest from the Nets, Suns, Bucks, Wizards, and Lakers. Macklin spent last season in Detroit, and is also drawing interest overseas, in Turkey and Greece.
Macklin was the 52nd overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, but has played only 23 games so far in his professional career. Macklin has scored a total of 46 points and grabbed 34 rebounds with a 5.9 minutes per game average.
Macklin will surely not help the Lakers tremendously if signed, but he could provide some assistance off the bench. He will not likely see a lot of playing time but will learn a great deal from Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash.
