Lakers Rumors: Team Will ‘Likely Entertain’ Trade Offers For Nick Young

One of the more disappointing players for the Los Angeles Lakers this season was Nick Young. After a career year last season, Young saw his numbers drop across the board and he clashed with head coach Byron Scott at times.

With three years remaining on his new contract, the Lakers could be looking to shop Young this off-season and according to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News, are likely to entertain offers for the wing player:

The Lakers will likely entertain trade offers for Young. Any scenario remains complicated because of Young’s recent poor play and the possibility teams would want a draft pick in return.

Young signed a four-year deal in the off-season as he seemed to be a big part of the Lakers future, but he never got off the blocks this season. He suffered a torn ligament in his thumb in training camp that forced him to miss the beginning of the season and saw his season end due to ongoing knee issues, ultimately playing only 42 games.

Scott criticized Young on a number of occasions this season, calling for Young to develop other parts of his game and become more of a complete player. Eventually Young said that he felt unfairly targeted by Scott during the season.

With doubts on whether he and Scott can mesh, as well as whether he will ever be more than just a scorer, it shouldn’t be too surprising that the team would see what his market is. Whether they would pull the trigger on a deal will be interesting as the Lakers will likely be making big changes this summer.
