Lakers Rumors: Ulterior Motive for Steve Nash Signing with the Lakers?

Once it became official that Steve Nash was signing with the Los Angeles Lakers for three years, the reasoning for Nash making the move started to come into play. Obviously, playing alongside Kobe Bryant in the same backcourt will improve Nash’s chances of winning an NBA title, but there might be more to the story in terms of Nash’s decision to play in Los Angeles.

Apparently, Nash ultimately chose the Lakers over the New York Knicks and the Toronto Raptors to pursue another career outside of basketball once his career is over. It is no secret that Nash is a fan of being in front of and behind the camera, and he believes his chances of breaking into the entertainment industry after his three years with the Lakers are that much better in the City of Angels.

According to Toronto Sun, Nash is ready to break into show biz in L.A.:

“The NBA star, who’s inking a three-year, $27 million deal to move from the Phoenix Suns to the Lakers, has said that he’ll be moving into film production after his run with the team, a career change that will no doubt be aided by his relocation to the show-business capital of the world.”

With all the perks Los Angeles has to offer professional athletes on and off the floor, Nash will be in his element with a career in Hollywood on the horizon. Nash already has his foot in the door in the industry with his production company Meathawk. There’s no better place in the country to get a company like Meathawk off the ground than in Los Angeles.

Other notable athletes that have thrived in Los Angeles outside of their sport are Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Metta World Peace, Kobe Bryant, David Beckham and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. This is just a short list of successful athletes that have used playing in Los Angeles to their advantage.
