Lakers Schedule: Previewing The 2013-2014 Grammy Road Trip

Kobe, Gasol, NashThe official 2013-2014 NBA schedule has been released, and Lakers Nation has many games to look forward to. One particular stretch of games that will be pivotal is the annual Grammy road trip.

While the Grammy Awards occupy Staples Center, the Lakers will be on the road from January 15-January 26.

The Lakers will play seven games in 12 days, and they will be in five different states and one different country in that short period of time.  This looks to be a very difficult road trip for the Lakers because of the time away from Staples Center and the fact that they will be facing some of the NBA’s best teams in the process.

Here is a quick look at the seven games the Lakers will be playing on the road from January 15-January 26:

Phoenix Suns-January 15: The Lakers will face the Suns for the second consecutive year to start off this Grammy road trip, and hopefully the Lakers can start off the trip with a win because it only gets harder after this.

Boston Celtics-January 17: The Lakers and Celtics rivalry continues in Boston as they visit the Celtics in their second game of the trip. This game will not be as appealing because there will be no Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett or Doc Rivers, but it will be great if the Lakers can earn a win in Beantown.

Toronto Raptors-January 19: North of the border is where the Lakers will visit the Toronto Raptors and will try to get a win against a young but dangerous team. With Rudy Gay at the helm and good players around him, this Raptors team could give the Lakers some problems.

Chicago Bulls-January 20: The Bulls will host the Lakers at the United Center and will not only have home court advantage, but they will face a tired Lakers team after playing the Raptors the day before. It is going to take a great team effort  for the Lakers to fight for a win against a very good Bulls squad with Derrick Rose.

Miami Heat-January 23: After back-to-back games in Toronto and Chicago, the Lakers visit the Miami Heat, easily becoming the most anticipated game of the road trip. The Lakers have not won in Miami since the 2007-2008 season, and it does not look like that is going to change this season. The defending champs are loaded and unless an injury derails them, it is tough to see the Lakers come away with a win.

Orlando Magic-January 24: Fresh off facing the defending champs, the Lakers travel north 235 miles and take on the Orlando Magic. Definitely not one of the best games of the road trip, but hopefully an easy victory for the Lakers. This will also be the first time the Lakers and Magic meet after the end of the Dwightmare saga.

New York Knicks: January 26: The Lakers finish off the road trip with a trip to Madison Square Garden, one of the most historic venues of all time. The Lakers will face Metta World Peace for the first time after he was amnestied. This looks to be a great game and a tough match-up for the Lakers. Their old legs will certainly be tired, but hopefully they can muster enough energy to compete against Carmelo Anthony and company. We could only hope Kobe Bryant will be back at full strength because he loves to play in the Garden.
