Lakers’ Snyder to Interview for Coaching Position with Bobcats

The Los Angeles Lakers may be on the verge of losing another member of the coaching staff this summer as assistant coach Quin Snyder will reportedly interview for the vacant head coaching position with the Charlotte Bobcats.

Synder will have some tough competition during the interview process with the Bobcats already having interviewed Patrick Ewing, Nate McMillan and Jerry Sloan for the open position. Another candidate for the Bobcats’ new head coach is former Lakers assistant coach and player, Brian Shaw.

Before the Lakers decided to hire Mike Brown to be the successor to Phil Jackson, the consensus was that Shaw was the clear favorite to land the job. Not only were Lakers fans excited about Shaw becoming the new head coach in Los Angeles, but he seemed like the right choice to take over for the Zen Master.

Unfortunately for Shaw, Brown won over the Lakers’ front office and the right-hand man to Jackson had to look elsewhere to pursue a career as a head coach in the NBA. Despite interviewing for multiple openings around the league, Shaw ultimately became an assistant to Pacers Coach Frank Vogel in Indiana.

After a 7-59 record in the 2011-12 NBA regular season, the Bobcats made history with the worst winning percentage (.106) in the history of the league.

Needless to say, whoever is hired to become the new leader on the sidelines for Charlotte will have a daunting task to say the least in order to turn this struggling NBA franchise around. Shaw will interview for the job sometime next week and Snyder will get his turn in the first week of June.
