LaVar Ball, the father of Los Angeles Lakers rookie point guard Lonzo Ball, received a technical foul on Saturday while coaching his youngest son LaMelo’s AAU team.

Ball did not like a foul call on one of his players, and after he was given the technical, decided he had seen enough, pulling his team off the court, resulting in a forfeit. His team, the Big Ballers were leading by nine points at the time.

After the game Ball explained why he chose to do what he did, saying that he felt his players were being cheated out of the game, so it was an easy decision for him to pull them off the court.

In recent months Ball has been under a lot of scrutiny for being outspoken on a lot of topics, mostly involving his son Lonzo.

That did not shy the Lakers away from drafting him though, as Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka visited Ball’s home in Chino Hills, and liked what they saw as Ball was training some of the neighborhood kids.

LaMelo is Ball’s last son still playing on the AAU circuit, as Lonzo is now with the Lakers and his middle son, LiAngelo, is set to begin his freshman season at UCLA.
