Lakers forward Lamar Odom has taken his game from the hardwood to the courtroom, suing the Internal Revenue Service. Apparently, the IRS claimed he couldn’t take tax deductions for money Odom spent on sports fines, and an additional $178,000 that Odom claimed helped get him into basketball shape.

Odom is currently having one of the most successful periods of his career, and is a staple player on the Lakers quest to reach the NBA Finals for the fourth consecutive season. Whether the struggle with the IRS becomes a distraction for the Lakers, who are currently 7-0, is yet to be seen.
