The Los Angeles Lakers played one of their most complete games of the season in their 116-102 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. Led by Julius Randle’s triple-double (19 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists), the Lakers assisted on 34 of their 42 made field goals, which was what head coach Luke Walton was most proud of after the game.

A story was revealed that might have led to Randle’s motivation for such a solid performance. Randle explains after the game how Walton challenged him at practice and knew how to push his buttons in just the right way.

Randle now becomes just the sixth player in the NBA this season to record multiple triple-doubles (the others are: Russell Westbrook, James Harden, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Draymond Green).

Additionally, the Lakers set a season-high with 17 three-pointers (51.3% from beyond the arc), falling just two short of the franchise record of 19. Nick Young and D’Angelo Russell each contributed six apiece, marking just the fourth time in franchise history a pair of Lakers teammates each hit six-or-more three-pointers in a game.

Check out all of our videos, where Walton and teammates provide context to how Randle responds to being challenged in practice.
