Magic Johnson Part of Ownership Group Looking at Dodgers

According to ESPN’s Buster Olney former Los Angeles Lakers guard Magic Johnson is part of an ownership group that is looking to buy the Lakers baseball counterparts, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

During a phone interview with ESPN Johnson discussed his interest in the team and why being an owner of the Dodgers would be something he would be interested in.

“I’m a big baseball fan, and you think about what the Dodgers have meant to baseball and to Los Angeles, and that part’s a no-brainer. … I’ve been to that place [Dodger Stadium] hundreds and hundreds of times, every year.”

The Laker legend is known for his entrepreneurial reputation almost as much as his skills on the basketball court. Before the Dodgers were put on the sales block Johnson was reportedly interested in putting together a group to bring a NFL franchise back to Los Angeles.

Johnson sold his ownership stake in the Los Angeles Lakers last season.
