Matt Barnes Expected to Miss Eight Weeks After Injuring Knee

According to the Los Angeles Times Lakers’ forward Matt Barnes will miss up to eight weeks after tearing the meniscus in his right knee. Barnes will have surgery on Tuesday following the injury he sustained against the New Orleans Hornets on Friday night.

Barnes has been a major addition to the Lakers this season after signing in the off-season as a free agent. The Lakers will be forced to fill his minutes with additional work from Ron Artest, Luke Walton, and Lamar Odom.

There is no doubt the Lakers will miss Barnes’ production, as he has put up 7.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 20.8 minutes per game. He was one of the most aggressive and physical players for the Lakers, and will be hard to replace on the court.
