Metta World Peace Calls Himself Knicks Fan for Life

Metta World Peace is currently the starting small forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, but that doesn’t mean the Lakers are his favorite team. World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, grew up in New York City, and like many of the children there, he fell in love with basketball. World Peace played college basketball in Queens, NY at St. John’s University, meaning he has spent the majority of his life in the City. Even though the defensive forward has moved across the country, the New York Knicks will always be a part of his life.

The Knicks were the only team in New York during World Peace’s childhood, and on Twitter, the outgoing Laker said that he will always be a Knicks fan.

The Knicks have not seen a lot success in recent years, but they have put together a talented roster. Still, World Peace has a much better chance to win another NBA title with the Lakers. It is okay to root for the Knicks whenever they play other teams, but World Peace must not let his liking for the Knicks interfere with his play when the two teams face off.

The Lakers and Knicks play each other twice this season, one game in Los Angeles and the other in New York City. Madison Square Garden is always packed when the Lakers come to town, but this time around tickets will be much more coveted thanks to World Peace’s newest teammates.
