Metta World Peace Reaches Out to Lakers Fans Via Twitter

Now that Metta World Peace can only hope that the Los Angeles Lakers make it to the second round of the NBA playoffs while serving his seven-game suspension for elbowing the Oklahoma City Thunder’s James Harden, the veteran forward is trying to make the best of his time off the court.

Apparently, World Peace hosted a “pre-playoff party” by offering 100 movie tickets through his Twitter account. The tickets were for movie that he appeared in called Think Like a Man, and he made it known that he was only going to sign movie tickets rather than autographs for fans via Twitter:

“I’m not signing autographs tonight. Too many people….. I’m going to sign the movie tickets.”

World Peace also hosted a playoff party for Game 1 against the Denver Nuggets at a secret location for 100 fans:

Along with taking fans to the movies and hosting a playoff party, World Peace also had a few controversial things to say on Twitter about physical play that were ultimately deleted from his Twitter account:

“It’s so funny .. The two concussions I got this year I never flopped or left the game … When Marc gasol broke my nose I took it,” World Peace wrote. “Me and Kobe try to practice flopping. We don’t know how. We don’t know how to take charges … The last of the dead breed.”

World Peace continued with several more tweets.

“Some of these players and a lot of overseas players would not have made it in the early 90’s and 80’s. I would have been a beast in the 80’s.”

So even though World Peace can’t contribute on the floor for the Lakers for another five games, the one-time NBA champion hasn’t just been sitting around the house doing nothing as he continues to show his love for the fans.

With how well the Lakers played in Game 1, it appears that World Peace will get a chance to redeem himself in the next round, which ironically might be against the Thunder.
