There have been a number of former Lakers mentioned in coaching news recently. Derek Fisher just took the New York Knicks head coaching position. Luke Walton may join his staff in New York. Kurt Rambis may go to New York as well but is also considered one of the favorites for the Laker’s job.

Byron Scott has been linked to the Laker’s job since it became open and remains the favorite to land the position, but now another former Laker has joined the coaching ranks, only it isn’t in the NBA. Metta World Peace recently tweeted that he will be an assistant coach for the Palisades High School girls basketball team:

Metta World Peace becoming a coach at any level is probably something very few expected, but World Peace loves giving back and this is one way to do so.

He says he will help when time permits which means he won’t be going there full-time, helping with every practice, but any time a team can get advice from an NBA player, it can only help.

The Dolphins went 21-12 last season, finishing second in the Western League. They made the CIF LA City Section semi-finals before losing to Narbonne High, and lost in the first round of the Division I State playoffs to Lynwood High. The head coach of the team is Torino Johnson.
