Lakers News: NBA 2K14 Video Features Kobe, Lakers, and LeBron

After the unveiling of Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4 this week at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, 2K Sports also debuted its next-generation footage of NBA 2K14. The footage impressively features its newest cover athlete, LeBron James playing against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center. Here is the video captured from the new PlayStation 4 below:

While it is a highlight reel of LeBron James, it is interesting to note that the San Antonio Spurs should have been featured in this video since they are the Western Conference champions and current opponent of the Heat. However, it shows another example of how popular and marketable former 2010 cover athlete Kobe and the Los Angeles Lakers are around the world despite not even playing in this year’s Finals.

Since NBA 2K14 aims to replicate its real-life counterpart and accurately depicts Steve Blake throwing a lazy and telegraphed pass to Kobe that LeBron intercepts for a high-flying dunk, it should make all Lakers fans happy to see a fully-recovered Kobe Bryant chasing down LeBron James on the fastbreak. More importantly, Dwight Howard appears very briefly walking back to the bench which suggests he will re-sign with the Lakers this summer? And to everyone’s surprise, Metta World Peace remains with the Los Angeles Lakers.

NBA 2K14 is scheduled to be released on October 1, 2013.
