NBA Free Agency: Lakers Interested In Lance Stephenson
[new_royalslider id=”139″]

When NBA free agency began on July 1, the Indiana Pacers offered Lance Stephenson a five-year, $44 million contract. However, with the type of contracts that are being given out so far, Stephenson has begun exploring the market since he believes it was a low-ball offer according to ESPN’s Chris Broussard:

Although his desire is to remain with the Pacers, a disappointed Stephenson began exploring the free-agent market after receiving what he felt was a low-ball offer on Tuesday, sources said.

While the Lakers are completely focused on Carmelo Anthony right now, the team is interested in Stephenson:

Stephenson has drawn interest from the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers, although both teams have other free agents prioritized above Stephenson, according to sources.

Although Stephenson’s tactics during the Eastern Conference Finals against LeBron James and the Miami Heat made headlines, he is an extremely versatile guard as he led the NBA in triple-doubles with five. In addition, he averaged 7.2 rebounds per game which was the highest among guards.

For the Lakers, Stephenson would be a strong option if they are unable to land Anthony. He has the ability to play numerous positions and with Kobe Bryant around, the five-time champion could help him channel his intensity and limit his antics.
