After the players announced yesterday that they would not be accepting the owners’ ultimatum offer, a source close to the situation has announced that the two sides will meet one more time before the 5:00 PM EST deadline set by commissioner David Stern.
The meeting is scheduled to take place Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 PM EST, but the details are still being worked out. According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, the meeting will take place in New York and will focus on the issues that the players spoke about yesterday.
President of the players’ union, Derek Fisher, said that the NBPA was willing to accept a 50-50 BRI split if the owners would concede on a few other issues. Now is the time to see whether or not they will indeed be willing to make a few more sacrifices in order to preserve at least part of the NBA season.
