NBA News: Klay Thompson Enjoying Lakers’ Struggles This Season

NBA: Golden State Warriors at Houston RocketsDuring the media session for the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge that is set to take place tonight in Houston, Golden State Warriors sophomore Klay Thompson took some time to speak with reporters.

As you may know, Klay’s father Mychal was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers during his playing days, and is the color commentator for the Lakers’ radio broadcasts.

When asked how much trash he’s talked to his father this season concerning the Warriors’ success and the Lakers’ struggles, Klay said he enjoys having fun at his father’s expense, who was expecting great things from the Lakers this season.

“I always give him a hard time. He was blowing the Lakers up this preseason, saying ‘we might set a record for how many wins we’re going to get’ and it’s come back to haunt him. I love giving him a hard time.

Thompson went on to talk about the divisional rivalry between the Lakers and Warriors, and that L.A’s struggles this season have been fun for him to watch.

“They’re an in-state rival. They’ve dominated us in the past. So seeing us succeed and seeing them fall a little bit has been fun because they’ve dominated us for so long.”

Thompson will participate with the other young guns tonight at the BBVA Rising Stars event. His Warriors are 1-1 against the Lakers so far this season.
