NBA News: LeBron James Believes Heat Can Be “A Lot Better”

The Miami Heat will be looking to defend their title in the 2012-13 season and LeBron James is determined to once again silence his critics. James got over the hump by winning his first ring, but if he wants to be considered one of the greatest players of all-time, he must raise multiple championship banners.

Even though the Los Angeles Lakers have completely revamped their roster, James still has full trust in his team. James told the Miami Herald that he believes this Heat team can get a lot better and says they are looking “scary.”

“We can be better than we were this past season,” James said, on the day when he got sized for his first championship ring. “Are we better right now than we were just a couple months ago? Of course not. … But we have the potential to be better.

“We have the potential to be a lot better. That is scary.”

The Miami Heat did not add another superstar this off-season, but they did acquire Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis. Although both veterans are no longer the players they used to be, they can still be effective at this stage of their careers. Allen is lethal from behind the arc and Lewis is another player that can stretch the floor with his shooting.

The Lakers are surely the biggest threat to the Heat’s road to repeating and it will be very interesting to see those two teams hit the court. The star power on display will be something the league has not seen for a while and everyone would enjoy a best-of-seven series between the two.
