Olympics: Basketball-Men's Preliminary-USA vs NGRLeBron James is not only one of the most well known players in the NBA, his international brand is something not many people can match. James was contemplating the idea of becoming the president of the National Basketball Players Association, something not many superstars have done. However, it seems as though James has reevaluated the situation, and Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today writes that he will not run for the position.

After days of careful consideration and research, Miami Heat star LeBron James decided he will not run for president or first vice president of the National Basketball Players Association, a person familiar with James’ decision told USA TODAY Sports.

Interested in union matters and the direction of the NBPA, James had considered both executive committee positions comprised of players but concluded he would not have enough time at this point in his career to give the positions the necessary attention they require. James called Heat teammate and NBPA secretary-treasurer James Jones on Monday and told him of his decision.

James felt as though his voice would be beneficial for the union and after going through some tough times post-lockout, the union is in need for a new leader.

However, James already has enough pressure to deal with, and the time commitment that came along with being president was just too much for him.
