After their loss to the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the NBA playoffs, the Brooklyn Nets fired interim coach P.J. Carlesimo Sunday morning.

Carlesimo took over for Avery Johnson and led the Nets to a 49-33 regular season record, but came up short in their series against the Bulls. While it wasn’t guaranteed that Carlesimo would return, it’s shocking that general manager Billy King didn’t waste much time in making his decision.
Most people believe King will pursue former Rockets head coach and current ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy while owner Mikhail Prokhorov will push for former Lakers head coach Phil Jackson.
Jackson has been linked to the head coaching vacancy before and is itching to make a return to the sidelines.
