NBA News: Thunder guard Derek Fisher Has Vintage Performance

derek-fisher-37Last night against the Memphis Grizzlies, Thunder guard Derek Fisher poured in 19 points while shooting 6-9 from the field. With the injury to guard Russell Westbrook, Fisher has stepped into the back-up point guard role behind starter Reggie Jackson.

So far against the Grizzlies, Fisher is averaging 11.5 points as the Thunder and Grizzlies series is tied at one.

Fisher started the season with the Dallas Mavericks before suffering a knee injury. Once he was released from his contract, he quickly signed on with the Thunder.

With two capable guards in front of him, Fisher played small minutes at first but is relied upon to provide scoring and leadership in Oklahoma City.

The one-time Laker doesn’t look like he’s slowing down as he’s hit his patented corner three-pointer and taken many charges. However, Fisher has drawn a $5,000 fine from the NBA for his flop in the playoffs, but that won’t stop him.
