NBA Player’s Union Takes Action Against New Flopping Rule

Although almost everyone is pleased with the NBA’s new anti-flopping rules, it seems as though the NBA Players Union is not ready to accept the new sanctions.

The new flopping rule will hand out fines for players who exaggerate contact in order to get a call in their favor. Flopping has ruined the integrity of the league and players are glad that it is being banned from the NBA. Even star players partake in flopping, but this new rule will mean that taking a charge will once again be based on strategy rather than acting skills.

Still, the Player’s Union is upset with the NBA’s move and filed a grievance with the league over the anti-flopping rule.

The New York Times further describes the nature of the protest and highlights the Union’s main ideas. The organization believes the NBA should have consulted them before implementing the fines for flopping. In addition, the Player’s Union will file a complaint to the National Relations Board for unfair labor practices.

The NBA and the Player’s Union are once again fighting, but with a general acceptance from the player, it is expected that the new flopping rules will stay right where they are.
