NBA Postpones Start of Training Camps and Some Pre-Season Games

According to ESPN’s Ric Bucher, the NBA has postponed the start of training camps and an unspecified number of pre-season games. The NBA and players union met today in New York City, but as Lakers Nation reported, the talks did not fare well. Commissioner David Stern did not comment on a possible postponement, but the latest update has the lockout impacting the initial schedule.

Training camps were set to open on Oct. 4, but now players will have less time to get physically ready for the 2011-12 season.  The major point of debate in the lockout talks was the lack of revenue, but now that some pre-season games will be postponed, money will be lost. Due to the inadequate cooperation of the parties, the league is losing out of cash it could have received.

The sides need to make their way to the negotiation table soon or else the fans may not be able see a full regular season.
