NBA Power Rankings Final Week: Knicks, Heat Continue Dominance, Lakers Rise

powerrankings

10. Indiana Pacers (49-31, Last Week: 9): The Pacers have lost two in a row with the two teams being Eastern Conference contenders in the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks.

9. Houston Rockets (45-35, Last Week: 11): The Rockets 2-1 last week.

8. Brooklyn Nets (47-33, Last Week: 8): The Nets went 1-3 last week, and have won four of their last five.

7. San Antonio Spurs (58-22, Last Week: 6): The Spurs have went 4-4 in the month of April with all four losses coming against possibly Western Conference playoff opponents; the Grizzlies, Thunder, Nuggets, and Lakers.

6. Memphis Grizzlies (54-26, Last Week: 6): The Grizzlies won three games in a row before losing to the Los Angeles Clippers–who will possibly be their first round opponent in the playoffs–on Saturday.

5. Los Angeles Clippers (54-26, Last Week: 7): The Clips have won five games in a row, including a victory over their possible first round matchup–the Memphis Grizzlies.

4. Oklahoma City Thunder (59-21, Last Week: 4): The Thunder maintain their position here despite winning all three games last week.

3. Denver Nuggets (55-25, Last Week: 3): Despite losing to the Dallas Mavericks in overtime on Friday, the Nuggets have won six of their last seven games.

1 (Tied). Miami Heat (64-16, Last Week: 2): The Heat have won six games in a row and hold the best record in the league. I felt the need to let them share the number one spot as these will be the last Power Rankings for this season. The Heat have been absolutely dominant this season, and are still the clear favorites to win the NBA championship.

1. (Tied). New York Knicks (53-27, Last Week: 1): The Knicks lost to the Chicago Bulls in overtime on Thursday, but are still the hottest team in the league right now. Including that loss, the Knicks have won 15 of their last 16. Should the Knicks and Heat meet in the playoffs down the road, it would be an extremely exciting, competitive series.
