NBA Rumors: Former Laker Guard Jordan Farmar Eyeing Return To NBA

Jordan FarmarAfter spending two seasons in Europe, former Lakers guard Jordan Farmar is thinking about the possibility of returning to the NBA. During the lockout, Farmar singed a one-year deal with Maccabi Tel-Aviv and decided he would stay in Europe as he eventually signed a three-year deal with Anadolu Efes in Turkey.

In his contract, Farmar is eligible to leave for the NBA every summer and talked to Lucas Sheiner of BUSTASPORTS.com about a return to the NBA:

I think I’ll be back much sooner than the end of the contract. So, I feel I gave Europe a try, and that I have plenty years ahead of me in the NBA, but I still have the option to return here and play in Turkey again, if the right [NBA] deal and situation doesn’t present itself. But I feel that it’s time for me to go back and enjoy free agency.

In his four seasons with the Lakers, Farmar was the primary back-up to starter Derek Fisher and was part of two championship teams. At the end of his contract with the Lakers, Farmar signed a three-year deal with the then New Jersey Nets.

While he’s enjoyed his time in Europe, it sounds like Farmar is itching to get back in the NBA. When asked about a possible return to the Lakers:

Yeah, I mean, it’ll come down to situation. They have a lot of salary committed to a lot of different places. It’ll depend on what happens with Dwight Howard, and Kobe Bryant, and Pau Gasol, and if they’re in the position to be able to spend some money on free agents. But, I’m open to every opportunity.

The Lakers have backup point guard Steve Blake under contract for next season as it’s possible he could return in two years. Regardless, it sounds like Farmar is interested in a return to the NBA and can definitely be a serviceable backup to a team.
