The Memphis Grizzlies have been one of the more consistent teams on the court in the past few years. The same can not be said for their front-office situation.

After firing Lionel Hollins last off-season, the team nearly fired Dave Joerger early this season due to the team’s struggles. Now, with the team set to let Dave Joerger out of his contract to go to Minnesota, the Grizzlies have their eye on Jeff Van Gundy, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein:
Sources told ESPN.com that the Grizzlies have serious interest in trying to convince Van Gundy to serve as coach and team president in a job structure modeled after the new dual role brother Stan Van Gundy has secured with the Detroit Pistons.
Van Gundy’s interest in the position is unknown at this time as he has always refused to publicly speak about potential job openings, but the Grizzlies present a relatively interesting opening.
The team has the talent to hang with anybody on any given night, but with so many front office issues, coaches may be wary of joining the organization because of the lack of stability.

Joerger seems to be destined to head to Minnesota, and Hollins is set to interview for the Lakers head coach position, meanwhile the Grizzlies are trying to figure everything out.
If they can’t get Van Gundy, the team is supposedly looking at Clippers assistant Alvin Gentry as well as George Karl, an expected target of the Lakers. With the Grizzlies having the team they possess, a job opening there could be viewed as having more potential than the Lakers, which could hinder the team in their quest to being in their guy.
