There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love recently. With the Cavs struggling recently, many wondered if Love will leave the team after the season and coach David Blatt saying Love isn’t a max player only fueled those rumors.

Love seems to have calmed down those rumors as he told Chris Haynes of NEOMG that he doesn’t plan on opting out after this season:

I think that we will figure it out here, so I don’t plan on opting out or any of that,” Love told NEOMG. “I plan on being here. As far as leaving my options open, I mean sure, it’s always there. At the end of the day, it’s always good to have something but no, I plan on being here.”

It would be a massive loss for the Cavaliers if Love were to leave after only one season. The team traded top overall pick Andrew Wiggins to acquire Love, so losing him would definitely hurt. However, it looks as if that won’t happen.

Love has struggled to fit in the Cavs’ offense so far this season and his numbers are down across the board because of it. Love’s points are his lowest since he became a regular starter in 2010 and his rebounds are their lowest since his rookie season.

It would be hard for anyone to leave a team that has LeBron James on it and Love will likely give the Cavs every chance to turn it around. The team has been active on the trade front recently, but Love came to Cleveland to win championships and the Cavs still seem far away from that.
