NBA Rumors: Magic Won’t Match Max Offer For Tobias Harris

Tobias Harris

With the NBA free agency well underway, the Los Angeles Lakers have been looking to improve their roster. One area the Lakers have been trying to address is finding a versatile wing player.

The team has been reportedly interested in the Orlando Magic’s Tobias Harris. The Magic have first right of refusal on Harris since he is an unrestricted free agent and will supposedly not match any max offers from other teams, according to Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn:

In a addition to the Lakers, the Boston Celtics, Detriot Pistons New York Knicks are supposedly interested in trying to pry Harris away from the Magic. The Magic recently drafted Mario Hezonja whom the they believe could become their eventual starting small forward. Aaron Gordon, last year’s draft pick, also figures to be the power forward of the future which puts a question on the Magic’s need for Harris.

The Lakers have yet to make a move in free agency despite the amount of agreed deals that have reported. With the market slowly drying up, the Lakers could soon find themselves trying to make a deal with Harris with the hopes the Magic end up not matching.

Harris averaged 17.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.0 steals for the Magic last season.
